Hello, my name is Chetna.Today, I am sharing a story about the time I got slapped by my vice principal when I was only in UKG class. I was hardly four years old! In the end, you can decide whether you feel sad for me or find it funny. Our story begins with 4-year-old me waiting in line for the swings during recess. I was in Little Angels School, and as soon as my new class started, I was thrilled about the idea of roaming around the playground freely and getting on the swings. However, there was always a long line. To make things worse, the 2nd-grade students would cut in line! I used to get really angry, but we little kids couldn’t do anything about it. This happened every single day. I would stand patiently in line, only to watch someone cut in and take the swing. By the time my turn came, recess would already be over. It was truly upsetting. One day, the same thing happened, but I had had enough. When I went back to class, I couldn’t stop thinking about how unfair it was. I was super angry. I went to my teacher and asked, “May I go drink water?” My teacher asked, “Why? What did you do during recess?” I replied, “The line was too long, and I couldn’t drink.” She let me go. On my way back from the water taps, I had an idea: why not take a swing for just 2 minutes? The playground was empty, and there was nobody around. So I went straight to the swings and started enjoying myself. The problem was, I didn’t have a watch, nor did I know how to check the time. I had no understanding of time back then. And, as they say, when you’re doing something you love, time flies—that’s exactly what happened. Suddenly, the bell rang, and I realized I’d been on the swing for a long time. My class period had already ended. I knew I was going to be in trouble because I had been out of class for the entire period. My teacher must have been worried. But strangely, I also felt brave and careless. It’s okay, I thought, let it happen. I’m going to get scolded anyway, so I might as well enjoy a little longer. I was a little devil back then. I started exploring other rides. There was one ride where older kids used to hang. I climbed on that too. By the time I was swinging on it, the second bell rang—two whole periods were gone! Still, I didn’t care. I thought, They’ll find me when they find me. Eventually, someone spotted me. My class teacher, the vice-principal, and the principal all came toward me, along with a male teacher. They had been looking everywhere for me. My principal was a tall and magnetic lady. She called out, “Come down from that ride!” I replied boldly, “I’m sure you’re going to slap me, so I’m not coming down!” They all looked very angry. Then my teacher said, “No, we won’t slap you.” I challenged her, “Do God promise!” She replied, “God promise.” I pushed further: “Touch your neck and say, ‘I swear.’” My teacher did everything I told her to do because I was sitting high up, and they were worried I might fall. But as soon as I climbed down and came into their reach, my teacher grabbed me and helped me off the ride. The moment I stood on the ground, my vice-principal slapped me on one cheek! I was furious. “What about the promise?” I shouted. She calmly replied, “I didn’t make any promises.” They warned me sternly: “If you do this again, you’ll be in big trouble. This is your first mistake, so we’re not calling your parents.” When I went home, I told my mom everything. She scolded me for roaming around like that. I asked her, “What about the slap? They promised they wouldn’t slap me, and they still did.
