Reading passage 1
Albert Einstein—A Genius Who Changed the World
Albert Einstein was one of the most famous scientists in history. He was born on March 14, 1879, in Ulm, Germany. As a child, he was curious and asked many questions. He didn’t speak until he was four, and some people thought he might not be very smart. But Einstein loved mathematics and science and spent hours reading and solving problems.
In 1905, while working at a patent office, he published several important scientific papers. One of these introduced his theory of special relativity, which included the famous equation E = mc². This equation shows that energy and mass are connected. It was a groundbreaking idea that changed the way scientists understood the universe.
Einstein later moved to the United States in 1933 when Adolf Hitler came to power in Germany. He was Jewish and felt unsafe staying in his home country. He became a professor at Princeton University and continued his research in physics.
Although Einstein was a brilliant scientist, he also cared deeply about peace. He spoke out against war and supported civil rights in America. In 1955, Einstein passed away at the age of 76. Today, his name is often used to describe someone who is very smart, but his true legacy is the way he changed science forever.
