Naughty kid
I was 3 years old, and yes, I have so many stories to tell from my childhood. I always laugh when I tell this story. My mother left me with Mamta Mami. Her kids were in school, so she and I were alone in the house. She had to cook, and I wanted to go to my other uncle’s house or buy a snack. She had no time, so she kept telling me to sit patiently and play, but I kept demanding to go out.
At last, she had no choice. She locked the door from the outside, leaving me in the room. They had only one room and one kitchen. They lived in a rented house. I started getting angry and began saying funny things non-stop. Basically, I was giving her sharaps (curses). I said, “I will make you a cat with magic if you don’t let me out. I will turn myself into an aunt and escape, and you guys won’t be able to find me!”
She was yelling from the kitchen, “Do it! Who’s stopping you?” Then I started saying other things like, “You are not my favorite Mami (aunty). I like the other Mami more. She is so sweet, and you are not even nice!” She listened to everything without getting angry.
At one point, I said, “Mami ji, I am thirsty! I’ve been yelling for a long time, and now my throat is hurting.” She took pity on me and opened the door to give me water. As soon as she opened the door, I ran like a bullet. She couldn’t even understand what had happened! The funny thing was, I yelled, “Ready, steady, go!” and then dashed out of the room and the house.
The main door was always open since it was a rented house where other people lived, so they didn’t lock it all the time. My Mami ran after me. I was running on the street and passed by my uncle’s printing press. He was there, and he saw me running on the street. Then he saw his wife running after me. He didn’t run but yelled her name.
Before I could reach the shop, my Mami caught me. She didn’t slap me, but she was mad. She said, “I am going to complain to your mom!” I said, “Since we’re here, first buy me Chatmola and wafers. I have 5 rupees in my pocket. Let me buy!”
She allowed it, and I was happy. After buying snacks, I went home with her. She complained to my mom, and my mom scolded me. I told her, “Do not leave me without snacks, and I won’t do it again.
