French Sounds a.k.a Pronunciation ਉਚਾਰਨ
1. H is always Silent in French. Example Huit, Hôtel, Homme(man)
2. Last alphabet is mostly silent with exception: c, r, f, l
For example: avec, neuf, il, pour, vol
3. “d,” “s,” “t,” and “x.” is always silent in end of the word. Chat, Choix, Chaud
4. “Ch” makes sh sound.
- A makes aa sound. Ex: Laval
- Au makes o sound. Ex: Aujourd’hui
- Ai makes ay sound. Ex: Aimer
- Er, et, ez, es(in some cases) makes ay sound.
- E in one syllabus words like Le, de, te, me etc makes uh sound as in the.
- I makes ee sound. Ex: il is eel.
- ill makes ee-y sound. Ex: Fille, bouteille, vieille(Ville, Mille etc. are exceptions)
- Ui makes wee sound Huit, Oui, bruit, puis, pluie. Exception qui.
- ô, au, eau makes o sound as in English Go.
- Oi, oy makes wa sound. Ex: Choix , Voyage
- Ou make oo sound.
- U makes ew sound. Tu is Tew
